Leighton House Museum

Leighton House Museum, the former home of Victorian artist Frederic Leighton, offers a unique blend of art, architecture, and design. The house itself is a masterpiece, showcasing exotic interiors and a stunning art collection.  The museum has on permanent display works of art by various members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, including John Everett Millais, Edward Burne-Jones and George Frederick Watts, as well as 81 oil paintings by Leighton himself.

During this tour you will see:

  • Arab Hall - The highlight of the house, this room is inspired by Middle Eastern design, featuring intricate mosaic tiles, a golden dome, and a central fountain. Admire the collection of Islamic tiles from Syria, Turkey, and Persia.
  • Studio - Visit Leighton’s grand workspace, with its high ceilings, large window for natural light, and props used in his paintings. Look for his easel, sketches, and unfinished works.
  • Drawing Room - Explore the richly decorated drawing room, where Leighton entertained his guests.
  • Gallery Room - View a selection of Frederic Leighton’s artworks, including sketches and finished paintings. Look out for his famous piece Flaming June, often regarded as a masterpiece of Victorian art.
